Car restraint safety – all you need to know

Join in at 12:10pm (every day)

Buying and safely using the right car restraint is one of the most challenging tasks facing parents. What kind of restraint should you choose that best suits your needs?

Of course, if it’s called upon to do the ultimate job it was designed for you’d like it do it well, but how will your purchase choice impact on you everyday. For example, will it fit properly in your car? Will you ‘struggle’ with it’s mechanical functions? Will you be able to use it later if and when you have more children? Can it be swapped from car to car with ease? Also, what is ISOFIX or ERF (Extended rear facing)? These are some of the most important questions needing clarity. Doing the research is critical, but you need to know what questions to ask to get the answers that will serve you best?

These problems are solved during our Car Restraint Safety Workshop. Experts from the Australian Child Restraint Resource Initiative (ACRI) will be on hand to demonstrate and guide you through the right questions and answers applicable to your needs and personal circumstances

Sensory play for babies

Join in at 1:00pm (every day)

Do you know the importance of sensory play and stimulation for your baby, especially in the first year of life? Have you wondered what sensory play actually involves?

During the first year, babies learn more than at any other time of their lives, their brains going through an amazing process of development and specialisation.

Everything your baby hears, sees, touches, smells or tastes builds new neural connections in their brain and it is these connections which form the foundation for future learning and development. This is why introducing a rich variety of sensory experiences from birth is so important.

This fun, exciting and hands on Baby Sensory session will introduce you and your baby to some simple sensory activities and give you an opportunity to enjoy some precious time together during the hustle and bustle of the Expo.

Suitable for babies from birth to 13 months, the workshop will be led by a fully trained Baby Sensory class leader who will demonstrate each activity and explain how and why it will benefit your baby's learning and development. Then it will be your turn to give it a try!

*Please note we have 12 places available to participate in the workshop. All equipment will be provided and soft mats will be available so that you and your baby can be comfortable during the session. All visitors are welcome to watch the workshop and learn valuable insights regarding the importance of sensory play, as well as gaining ideas for sensory activities which they can do at home with their baby.
