FREE child restraint vehicle checks

New to the Expo this year, come and have your child restraint checked by expert fitters from Red Cross Baby Seats and leave with peace of mind that your little ones are safely buckled in!

Keeping your children properly restrained when driving is vitally important to their safety. Upgraded child restraint laws are now in place to encourage us to do the right thing.  Sadly, Red Cross Baby Seats estimate that over 80% of child passengers are either in the wrong child restraint or travelling in a restraint that’s not properly adjusted or installed.

It’s easy to become complacent, but remember this - an unrestrained child in a 60kph crash can suffer similar forces as to dropping them from a 4 storey window!

This year we’re delighted to announce that Red Cross Baby Seats will be providing FREE vehicle child restraint checks to all visitors to the Pregnancy Babies & Children's Expo.

Times:
10.00am - 3.00pm Friday
10.00am - 4.00pm Saturday & Sunday

The team at Red Cross will:

  • Check cars and advise visitors about what restraints may be suitable for their cars, where anchor points are located etc,
  • Check car seats that are fitted in cars and correct errors found if it’s possible to do so on-site
  • Consult and advise visitors about child restraint laws
  • Set up and adjust car seats purchased at the Expo at no cost to the customer
    (unless visitors would like to throw a dollar or two in our donation tin)

Please note: there will be some instances where the Red Cross team will not be able to help some visitors. Examples include:
 

  • Unsafe or old (>10 years) restraints will not be installed
  • Restraints won't be installed into cars where seat belts are damaged or where no anchor brackets are present.
  • Brand new child restraints won't be installed if they are still in the retail box and have been purchased outside the Expo
